It has been more than a year since my last write up. Work and amongst other pressing matters took center stage. Despite the tight schedule, amazingly J and I manage to find time to obtain a marriage license, arrange a wedding, had a wedding banquet in U.S and another in Malaysia. I would like to say that although we made time to arrange for this event, none of this would have happened without the tremendous help from our family. While J and I handled the actual wedding affair, the banquet in the U.S and Malaysia were arranged by our parents respectively. As such, I would like to dedicate this write up to our family.
Approximately a month before our wedding date in 2009, we obtained our marriage license. I was also able to squeeze in time to select my wedding gown and two evening dresses, have them altered as well as purchased my wedding shoes. J on the other hand made arrangements with the minister and the location where we would exchange our vows.
On that fateful day, J and I had a traditional chinese wedding tea ceremony. After which we made our way to a modest chapel in Cheltenham, PA to exchange our vows.
Exchanging Vows
After Vows
The wedding was followed by a dinner reception at Le Bec Fin.
Dinner Reception
When all was finally over, we heaved a sigh of relief. Who knew getting married required plenty of effort and time. It was fortunate that our wedding affair was minimal and simple. Otherwise, it would have required more effort on our part.
As Chinese no matter which country you were born in, what is a wedding without a banquet where extended family and friends can partake in this happy occasion with food, wine and well wishes. Hence food, wine and well wishes were exactly what we had. Not once but twice!
The first banquet was held at Asian Court in Ellicot City, MD.
Cutting The Cake and ........
Eating It Too
The other at Overseas Restaurant, Petaling Jaya.
An Intimate Banquet in April 2010
Walking In After The Annoucement
All in all, the later part of 2009 and early 2010 were rather interesting and fulfilling.
